Winter is wonderfully short in the Pre-Alps of the Riviera's hinterland
In practice, we live in slightly cooler weather here in Provence from December to January. Then, in our area, the temperature may even drop to a couple of degrees below zero on the coldest nights. When the sun comes up, the situation improves, and during the day in the sun you can eat outside all year round, even without a jacket. 9-14 degrees is a fairly common daytime winter temperature.
When February began, the sun's light became warmer and it already began to glow with the warm promise of summer. Even though the winter only lasted for a while, this spring light always feels just as comforting, even here in the south. The feeling is always just as exhilarating when you realize that winter is behind us and a long, wonderful spring season opens up ahead, preparing us for an easier life and nature for summer blossoming.
At the moment, in the forests of the Alpes Maritimes, an incredible, completely yellow, mimosa tree is blooming, its fairy-like fluffy blossoms shining in the warming light of spring. Some of the mountain slopes turn completely yellow for a moment and the yellow splendor travels like a wave from one slope to another, depending on which slope the Mimosa blooms at any given time.
In France, collecting wild plants is prohibited. I respect that, so spring mimosas have to be bought in the store, even if it's tempting to go in the car to hunt for a lovely bunch on the opposite hill :D
The mimosa bouquet in the picture was taken from a familiar restaurant in the fresh spring sun of the village of Tourettes.
A beautiful start to spring everyone! The light has already changed both in the north and in the south, wonderful <3
Warmest sun greetings,
Katarina
