The organic olive crop in the south of France is being eaten by flies all over - here too

Our home in Provence

So, thanks to the flies, we "liberated" ourselves from the first fall's olive harvest! Positive thinking :)

All olives that have not been sprayed with poison have been destroyed by the fly this autumn throughout the south of France. Quite a disappointment for many gardeners.

When we arrived at the house during the fall vacation and saw the miserable-looking olive tree fruits, we honestly thought that by our own actions (or inaction) we had managed to spoil our first olive harvest. However, the extent and truth of the destruction was revealed the very next day when we saw the harvest of our neighbor who obviously took good care of his olive grove; the sadly spotted olives also fell in their olive grove before their time and ugly blighted in their autumn soil.

For various reasons, autumn has been quite heavy for us and at the same time full of work, so it seems that this release from harvesting has come at the right time for us - if for some reason it was supposed to come.

During autumn vacation, instead of olive gardening, we focused on introducing our young guests to the region. The girls had their partners with them for the first time on a trip to France, and it was great fun introducing places to first-timers again. There will be no shortage of beautiful and wonderful things to present in Provence and the Riviera.

In addition to driving around and eating delicious food, we took the last swims of the summer, warmed up by the glow of the fireplace, and cheered on the Nice football team against Paris Saint-Germain, a seemingly hopeless opponent. After all, it was a loss for the home team, but maybe all the cheering scarves, beer mugs, flags and shouts we waved were comforting for the people of Nice after all <3

Ainiin, Anna-rassu stepped on our terrace on a rainy morning on a huge deer that escaped the rain, with the result that the leg was unusable after almost a week of being stung! A course of antibiotics also followed after we arrived back home.

Just in time for Christmas!

Beautiful autumn and winter days to everyone <3
