There you go, a few batches of goods have finally made their way from France to us here in the North for La Petite Provence stock replenishment and spring novelties! Nice!
In that regard, the hope has already arisen that we won't have to wait until next year for the next trip to the landscapes of southern France.
The French media are already glimpsing Europe-wide agreements on opening internal borders. France appears to be considering opening its own borders in mid-June - at the earliest.
France opened schools a week ago on May 11. According to Mr. President Macron, he is keeping a close eye on how this measure now affects the spread of the disease. At the moment, it seems that the spread has not decreased quite as well as hoped. Still, the situation is good, in my opinion. Nice Matin of the Riviera and Provence region is my main source of information.
In any case, the restaurants will at least remain closed for a long time, and large gatherings will not be allowed in the near future either. Masks are mandatory in public transport and fines are imposed if the mask is left on the face.
I would leave this seat for France if it were possible. Our plans include leaving either on a direct flight, which doesn't seem likely at all now that Finnair only offers alternate flights for the time being, or we'll go on mammoth driving days in our own car, whizzing through Europe and avoiding all contact with others and indoor spaces as much as possible. Bus pee, disinfection of hotel rooms, own snacks. Like that.
We have thought that if we get to our own villa in France, we will stay there, and not go anywhere much. Food is ordered from the supermarket with home delivery and we also do local shopping with a mask on and gloves in our hands in a friendly little store in our own village. Quarantine-like conditions in France are fine for me. No complaints.
If only we could get there now. I am aware of how desperate I sound! And this warmth of spring here in the north only increases my longing for the shade of the olive trees. Whoah.
All on time. The secret is to accept adversity as something that belongs to me personally, says a wise Orthodox monk in the book Filokalia. So now it's like this for me. I am working to mitigate this impatience and my French addiction, although on the other hand daydreaming carries over the quarantine days as well. I already have lists after lists of everything possible related to the trip, the need for a ride, etc.
Katariina :* :* (kiss on both cheeks, Provençal style)
- On the way to pack orders for the shop's warehouse, the sun just came out from behind the clouds and it's finally green. Homeschool day ahead with my sweet son. Things are pretty nice at the moment.
